The following are research issues of interest to the Data Mining Lab:

  • Mining structure-rich data, i.e., applications where trees, graphs and otherstructures are prevalent (e.g., bioinformatics, genealogy)
  • Meta-learning for model selection and combination
  • Dataset/application characterization, in particular landmarking
  • Learning algorithm characterization
  • Incremental learning, i.e., adapting to new data without retraining
