Center projects have goals but will often not have known methods of achieving those goals. Therefore, members of the Center should be comfortable discovering what will work and being productive in unstructured situations.

We have an opening for Project Sherlock, an R&D effort to apply quantitative methods to help screen for risks of accounting fraud.

Qualitative Methods Specialist:

Design, apply, and refine advanced statistical and other quantitative techniques to the problem of fraud risk detection. Design and develop custom modules for mathematical software packages. Develop techniques for visualization of large quantities of time-dependent financial data.

Requirements include PhD in mathematics, statistics, signal processing or other related field. Expertise using sophisticated statistical analysis techniques including multivariate methods, experimental design, prediction and pattern classification. Experience with fraud diction and financial data highly preferred. Must have experience with software such as SAS, SPSS or Matlab, as well as experience with statistical graphics and visualization. Experience with manipulation of large flat files and relational databases, aptitude to detect, troubleshoot and foresee data and analysis issues, are required. Must have demonstrable success and effectiveness working in a time-critical project environment, have outstanding organizational and communication skills (verbal and written), with great attention to detail.
