This position is for the Manager, Data Mining & Advanced Analytics within the IT Information Management & Delivery department at eBay. The Manager will own the delivery of data mining and advanced analytics solutions (data visualization, etc.) to eBay's internal business users, ensuring that the business needs are understood and that the technical environments and internal development and administration skills are developed to meet those needs. This position will require a highly technical individual who has the ability to manage a team as well as to perform hands-on work in SAS as well as other analytical tools.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with end users and business unit executives to understand functional requirements for data mining and advanced analytic solutions. Proactively identify opportunities to apply mining & analytics to address business needs.
• Define mining and analytics strategy to support continuously growing business needs and an expanding user base. Gather consensus and executive support for new strategy.
• Work closely with Information Management & Delivery architects to align mining & analytics strategy and delivery with that of the overall data warehouse and business intelligence environment.
• Manage multiple SAS environments. Deliver systems to 24x7 high availability standards and work with Operations teams to develop detailed plans of all necessary headroom projects. Work with end users to ensure proper utilization of system resources and understanding of system capabilities.
• Perform hands-on scripting and tuning to assist SAS end users in solving complex business needs.
• Develop best practices for using eBay�s mining and analytic environments and work with business users to drive adoption.
• Build a team of highly skilled and motivated individuals to deliver eBay�s mining and analytics solutions. Establish goals, deliver performance reviews, develop and coach employees.

• Extremely strong statistical and data mining skills with the ability to quickly understand complex problems then design and executes creative solutions to analyze them.
• 4+ years of extensive experience with Base SAS and SAS Enterprise Miner, including both end user and administration capacities.
• Experience with advanced analytic technologies, including MOLAP, data visualization, and segmentation tools.
• Strong native SQL skills. Working knowledge of Business Objects, MicroStrategy and other business intelligence tools are a plus.
• Experience working in a large, complex data warehouse environment.
