Yahoo! Personals, one of the company's fastest growing premium services, seeks a data architect to partner with business management in providing a highly scalable and reliable data warehouse. You will translate business metrics needs into systems requirements and database design specifications, develop data models, and provide both guidance and technical expertise during implementation. You will be responsible for constantly evolving the database architecture to incorporate new feeds and optimize performance and scalability. You will also drive the implementation of business intelligence systems and play a key role in analyzing data to answer business and product development relevant questions. You will work closely with product managers, marketing professionals, and engineers who are passionate about delivering actionable customer insights to further improve the world's best online dating experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a vision for the architecture of the Yahoo! Personals data mart to support a comprehensive product analytics strategy
• Work with technical leaders to improve functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability of data mart
• Research and evaluate new database technologies and business intelligence systems, and develop recommendations for implementation
• Define, track, and report on key business metrics and customer behaviors such as feature penetration, user behavior patterns, site flows and traffic patterns to drive customer-centric decision-making process
• Define data modeling approach for all major new projects
• Hire and lead a team of product data analysts and DBA's

• Outstanding skills in business analysis, data modeling, logical and physical database design, and data access analysis and design
• Proven expertise in database performance optimization, tuning, data portioning, replication, and ETL programs
• Ability to prioritize among requests competing for resources and articulate the financial impact of decisions
• Demonstrated strong capabilities in communicating and presenting at all levels of the organization
• Knowledge of Unix, Perl, and SQL and experience in using MicroStrategy or similar OLAP/BI tools
• Proven ability to take data projects through development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design documents and functional specifications creation, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance
• 7+ years of experience designing solutions for persistent data storage using relational database technology in large corporate environments
• 2+ years of people management experience
• BS/MS in Computer Sciences, Math or CIS required
