Allied Insurance, a member of Nationwide Insurance, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced statistical/data analyst. The successful candidate will have the option of locating in Des Moines, IA (Allied Insurance Corporate Headquarters) or Columbus, OH (Nationwide Insurance Corporate Headquarters). Allied's highly visible and fast-paced Customer Value Management department is hiring a Sr. Data Mining Analyst to assist with the development of predictive models. This position requires data manipulation skills, SAS programming skills, and experience fitting predictive models.

Responsibilities:
Work in a highly collaborative environment with an existing team of skilled data mining analysts to:

• Manipulate and prepare large datasets for modeling
• Perform exploratory and descriptive data analysis
• Fit and validate predictive models
• Establish work plans and communicate project progress to colleagues and management
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate scoring models into company operations
• Identify and investigate new research methods and data sources

• Master's degree in Statistics, Math or related field
• Minimum 2+ yrs work experience in a business environment
• Proficiency in Base SAS and SAS/Stat
• Demonstrated capability to manipulate large transaction based data sets using SQL
• Experience with data mining techniques (e.g., multivariate regression, survival analysis, decision trees)
• Desire and ability to continue learning new tools and techniques
• Strong listening and communications skills
• Insurance industry experience is a plus
