We are recruiting a statistician for the Division's Health Informatics activity. The group consists of statisticians and data miners with software engineering support researching a number of areas in health. These include (spatio-) temporal surveillance of health data to identify adverse events, epidemiological studies, methods of dealing with partially missing data, methods that test for ecological biases in data sets and developing methods for analysing data at the unit record level while preserving patient confidentiality. The activity has a significant external focus and the applicant will be working extensively with external clients.

You already have a history of success in research, particularly in developing methodologies to analyse large and complex data sets.You have a strong background in statistics with extensive experience working with large and complex data sets.You should also have experience or an interest in the health arena.

You are an honest and ethical researcher, meticulous in your science and creative in your ideas. Ideally, you have a solid academic track record and a history of publication in quality conferences and journals. In this position, you will be part of a team of committed researchers developing methods and technologies to analyse health data, including linkage of health data sets, handling missing data, statistical analysis and preserving patient confidentiality.

This position reports to the Leader, Health Informatics and you will be expected to work closely with them in developing projects in the health area, delivering on time and interacting with internal and external clients. This position is suitable for a highly motivated individual looking to make an impact in the rapidly developing area of statistical data mining.
