Job Description:
Essential Functions
- Works with the LOBs and Direct Marketing Managers to identify and complete projects, respective to pertinent business issues, evaluating consumer credit quality across a broad spectrum of consumer credit products, both prime and sub-prime.
- Assists Direct Marketing in preparing appropriate cutoff selection criteria, pertaining to credit scores, bankruptcy scores, model scores, and qualifying demographics such as income, etc., to decrease mailing costs for campaigns, while focusing on customers and prospects that are most likely to respond.
- Participates in campaign audits and builds good working relationship with bureaus and mailhouses.
- Produces weekly performance measurement and other ad hoc summary reports as requested.
- Uses modeling techniques such as logistic regression, neural networks, decision trees, discriminant function analysis, and cluster analysis to model and profile current and prospective customers, relative to both risk and marketing functions.
- Testing software as new applications are considered to more efficiently utilize our analytical skills.
- Training new hires on mainframe SAS/SQL code, dataset manipulation, and PC based analytical software.
- Investigate and implement new technologies for the Strategic Analytics department.
- Coordinating the development and implementation of process efficiencies and workplace automation.
Required Skills
- MS/MA in math, statistics, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years experience in model development and analysis.
- 2 to 5 years experience in financial services - consumer lending
- Strong analytical and statistical analysis capabilities.
- Strong data management skills.
- Knowledge of bank systems and how to maximize the use of customer data stored in these systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to translate very technical information into easily understandable terms.
- Superior programming skills (SAS, SQL, EXCEL, 3rd and 4th generation languages, etc.)
- Excellent mainframe/PC skills (UNIX experience is a plus).
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
- An excellent team player.
Preferred Skills
Problem solving/decision making: Ability to think clearly and ability to analyze complex problems, dealing with statistical modeling. Credit risk management, marketing or financial analysis background preferred.
Communication: Communicate in person or over the phone with
peers, other bank employees, vendors, outside consultants, and
management. The ability to speak clearly and effectively, interpret
and translate technical data. Must have the ability to respond to
questions with clear, effective answers, both spoken and in written
form.
