(CMU MSIT VLIS) With the drastic drop in the price of storage and the rise of the Internet, many organizations have deployed very large information systems, but they are not equipped to manage them successfully and efficiently. As systems scale in size, a broad collection of issues must be reconsidered: analysis, privacy, security, availability, risks, costs, and performance. Carnegie Mellon University is offering a new professional degree: Masters of Science in Information Technology, Specialization in Very Large Information Systems. The goal of this program is to train a new generation of premier technologists. Graduates will have the skills and knowledge to create and manage the layers of technology involved in the next generation of massive information system deployments. Curriculum Core Courses
