Position Description
ThinkAnalytics, a private rapidly growing UK-based company, has an immediate opening for several software developers in statistics/data mining algorithm development.

The successful candidates will develop statistical and data mining algorithms in Java, interacting with the other members of the ThinkAnalytics development team to integrate the algorithms into the ThinkAnalytics data-mining platform. The algorithms will be used on large datasets, in batch analysis and real-time.

The successful applicants will have previous experience of implementing algorithms in large scale environments and a good understanding of the underlying statistical principles, not only in the practical use of the algorithms but in their internal operation.

The successful applicants will ideally have a background in programming, data mining, and statistics. Specific forecasting and time series experience would also be an advantage but not necessary for all of the positions. You will be a highly organised individual capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.

You should be able to proactively identify and specify enhancements to statistical modelling and data mining techniques.

Requirements (Experience / Skills)

• Higher degree (Masters/PhD) in quantitative field (i.e. Statistics, Maths, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.)
• Good programming skills (Java experience an advantage)
• Experience in statistics packages a plus (e.g. SAS, SPSS, Matlab, R, S-Plus)
• Experience working with massive data sets and SQL skills, e.g. Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Teradata.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience
• The ability to take initiative and work autonomously while at the same time contributing to team objectives
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
