Primary Job Responsibilities:
PayPal Financial Products Risk (FPR) team is responsible for managing and defining risk strategy and policy for PayPal financial products, including debit and credit products, for both online and offline payment transactions. The financial products risk management directly affects both top line growth and margin for PayPal through revenue enablement and risk mitigation.

We are seeking a top performer to join a talented team for driving and managing risk and revenue solutions development. The Manager will report to the Director of Financial Products Risk and will have responsibility for:

  • Risk/Fraud Data and Policy Analytics - Conduct data analysis to analyze the impact of various policies. Extract data and conduct analyses to identify actionable insights and policies for risk control and loss reduction. Track the impact of the policies. Identify pockets of accounts or segments for various strategic campaigns to enable product growth.
  • Platform and operations strategy management - Manage rules used by the processor, analyze their performance and make changes to them based on risk/fraud trends to mitigate losses. Conduct research and analysis to identify gaps, and develop solutions to optimize risk operations.
  • Cross-functional Business collaboration - proactively collaborate with Business Units to understand business requirements. Be the point of contact for specific business requests. Balance the needs of business with the overall risk infrastructure to deliver optimal value to the business. Work with Business, System and Product Development to ensure successful execution of risk solutions and strategy.
Job Requirements:
3+ years of data analytic experience within bank, financial services or financial analytics consulting services environments.
  • Passionate about analyzing highly complex data sets.
  • Strong track record of developing actionable insights impacting business outcome. Superb attention to detail as well as ability to think strategically.
  • Hands-on experience in preparing and working with large volumes of data from disparate data sources. Proficiency with SAS and SQL, including ability to query large volumes of data. Prior experience with developing statistical models or scorecards a strong plus.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. A strong team player with the ability to interact at all levels.
  • Well organized and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously. Accountable and reliable with a "can-do" attitude and high level of commitment. Ability to quickly learn new topics.
  • Functional knowledge or experience with US card processor systems for managing debit/credit card and preventing fraud a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of payment card industry and best practices a strong plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Math, Computer Science or a related technical field (Master's/PhD a plus) preferred.
