Bayer Extends License To Linguamatics And Biowisdom For Text Search And Mining

(20 December 2006, Cambridge, UK) Linguamatics, a leading player in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its use in text search and mining, together with BioWisdom, a leading provider of healthcare intelligence, announced today that Bayer Healthcare has extended its license to Linguamatics' I2E text search and mining software for the analysis of research and other literature together with the associated BioWisdom taxonomies.

I2E is used by the Scientific Information and Documentation team to solve a diverse range of knowledge discovery problems across the business. The system in place at Bayer also leverages taxonomies supplied by Biowisdom Ltd.

The technology enables the discovery of hidden knowledge within large collections of text documents that would be impossible or prohibitively time-consuming to find using conventional methods. The system's powerful and flexible linguistic capabilities can be used interactively to extract relevant facts and relationships from millions of unstructured text documents and present them to the user in a structured form. No financial details of the deal were disclosed.
