We currently seek a Director, Sales Engineers, NA Commercial in our Chicago headquarters. In this role you will be responsible for directing the sales engineer (SE) resources dedicated to North American Commercial Field Sales (the 'organization')

Responsibilities:

  • Will act in an advisory role to the VP, NA Commercial Sales - lending his/her experience and expertise on matters pertaining to strategic focus on particular verticals/markets, fit of current and evolving SPSS products and applications within these verticals/markets, as well as tactical decisions on approaches and resources dedicated to immediate pipeline opportunities
  • Will be responsible (in coordination with the Manager, Sales Engineers, NA) for designing the SE support structure and rules of engagement within the organization and will communicate that support structure to the entire organization
  • Will be responsible for coordinating the hiring process within the organization
  • Will be responsible for the training and product/application certification process for the SE's within the organization
  • Will oversee the promotion process for the SE's within the organization, and will ensure that the process is well understood
  • Will be expected to participate in sales opportunities in the SE role
  • Will oversee the participation of the organization in the QuickArrow/OpenAir application process - to include both the time card and T&E reimbursement activities
  • Will ensure that the SE's within the organization are aware of and properly align to the rules of engagement affecting the participation of external resources in the NA Commercial sales process
  • Will be responsible (in coordination with the Manager, Sales Engineers, NA) for the formulation of an organizational budget, as well as adherence to that budget throughout the year of execution
  • Will participate, as appropriate, in committees and workgroups dedicated to product/application design and rollout and will ensure the appropriate participation in these committees and workgroups of the members of the organization

Requirements include:

  • Must have 12+ years of Sales Engineering experience.
  • Preferable to have familiarity with the full line of SPSS products and applications, as well as the domains in which they have been employed
  • Must have experience within the commercial domains
  • Must have experience in enterprise software solutions
  • Must have previous experience (5+ years) in a management position
  • Must have a Bachelors degree or equivalent; Masters Degree is highly desirable
  • Must have proven written and verbal communication skills
