Subject: 6S: peer network for collaborative Web search and user study

We are very pleased to announce a public testing of 6S, a new peer network for collaborative Web search.

6S is an application that will let you create your personal Web index, search it, share it, and discover what others have shared. You can build your index by importing bookmarks, crawling the Web, or collecting pages you find interesting.

To understand how the 6S network evolves with user activities and to ready 6S for general release, we would like to invite you to participate in our user study. The study will take place over a period beginning January 25th, 2007 and lasting approximately three months. You are free to join or leave this public testing at any time during the study period. You can also download and use the 6S application without participating in the users study, if you wish.

What you need:
1. Windows XP, Mac OS X, or Linux/Unix
2. SUN Java 1.5 or above
3. (optional but recommended) FireFox Web browser v1.5.x or above
4. Internet connection

We welcome everyone regardless of computer skill level. If you are interested, please visit the 6S website:

http://homer.informatics.indiana.edu/~nan/6S/

where you will find further information and an informed consent form (this study has been approved by Indiana University's Human Subjects Committee). You can also leave any comments or suggestions in the forum section.

Thank you for your consideration. We are looking forward to your participation and feedback.
