The previous KDnuggets Poll asked:

Your location and involvement with outsourcing of data mining / web mining services in the past 12 months

While outsourcing of data mining and web mining services is not as widespread as outsourcing of software development, it is growing.

About 50% of respondent had some involvement with outsourcing, compared with about 30% in 2003 poll on a similar topic.

On the demand side, there was growth is use of outsourcing in US and Western Europe.

On the supply side, there was also growth in China-based outsourcing.

There was a large group that reported doing outsourcing based elsewhere - not in China, India, or Russia/East Europe. Interestingly, most of these answers came from US-based IP addresses.
