When does development become a healthy future?

Imagine touching the lives of millions of people everywhere. Imagine reaching beyond the ordinary and impacting something greater than the bottom line. Imagine influencing some of the most critical issues facing healthcare today.

In this role, you will work on the development and support of information technology infrastructure for the Systems Biology team at the RTC, with a particular focus on text mining and analytics capabilities for use by project teams and individuals in research, clinical or business units. More specifically, you will architect, implement and support tools and methods for accessing, mining, and analyzing biomedical text. You will partner with Pfizer colleagues, publishers, and commercial vendors to evaluate, implement, test, and integrate best-in-class text mining capabilities. In addition, you will assist in quantifying the quality of text mining capabilities, and ensure compliance with applicable copyright laws and corporate standards and policies.

We are seeking candidates who will partner closely with both research scientists and software developers to deploy and advance a text mining infrastructure. The system will draw upon the literature, Pfizer clinical reports, and both private and public databases to enable scientists to form, visualize, and assess hypotheses.

Self-driven candidates with a demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions are highly sought. Candidates will have a thorough knowledge of text mining, information retrieval, and NLP algorithms as well as familiarity with commercial solutions. They should additionally have experience in software development. The ideal software engineering candidate will have excellent software design and development skills in Java/C++/C# (minimum 5 years). Demonstrated skills in integrating systems and databases are highly desirable. Candidates with strong backgrounds in systems architecture are also encouraged to apply.
