Subject: KDD-99  Student Travel Awards

SIGMOD, SIGART, and AAAI are sponsoring 12 student travel awards of $500 
each for student travel to 
	 KDD-99, 
	 Main Annual Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, 
	 August 15-18, 1999, San Diego, CA 
http://research.microsoft.com/datamine/kdd99/

The awards will be given, in this order, to:
	1) all students sole authors of plenary papers
 	2) students sole authors of poster papers
 	3) if awards left students first authors of plenary papers
 	4) students first authors of poster papers
	5) students who are co-authors, but not first authors of plenary or 
	   poster papers

In case there are more candidates than awards left, award recipients
will be selected at random from all eligible candidate in the last
unfilled category.

Proof of student status will be needed.   

Students whose papers were accepted to KDD-99 are invited to apply for 
award by June 7, 1999 by sending a copy of their KDD-99 accepted paper,
a proof of their student status, and their email to

June 14, 1999 and award checks will be presented at KDD-99.
