Criteria of the awards: SIGKDD Innovations Award: One award each year ------------------------ One SIGKDD Innovations Award will be given to one individual or one group of collaborators who has made significant technical innovations in the field of Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery in Databases that have been transferred to practice in significant ways, or that have significantly influenced direction of research and development in the field. SIGKDD Services Award: One award each year ---------------------- One SIGKDD Innovations Award will be given to one individual or one group who has performed significant services to the field, that include professional volunteer services in disseminating technical information to the field, education, research funding, etc. Nomination Process ------------------ Each nomination requires at least 5 people to co-sign (e-mail co-signing counts). Nominators should also submit materials by e-mails to support the nomination. Please send all materials by e-mails by June 25 to han@cs.sfu.ca. Deadlines for the award processing: ----------------------------------- 1. Calls for nomination: e-mail broadcast by May 25, 1999. 2. Deadline for nomination: June 25, 1999. 3. Recommendation to ACM SIGKDD executive committee: July 15, 1999. 4. Announcement of the Awards at ACM SIGKDD'99 conference: August 15-18, 1999. The Awards will be presented at the SIGKDD conference. -------------------------------- Exclusion: People on the SIGKDD Awards Committee are not eligible to be nominated.
