Candidates should have a Masters or Ph.D. with education and/or experience in machine learning, statistics, or pattern recognition. Experience implementing and applying data mining techniques is a plus as are database, programming and general UNIX skills. You would work with a group of dedicated, fun, intelligent people on a variety of tasks and efforts. Some projects are very applied, implementing data mining tools and techniques for a particular, real-world environment. Other efforts involve more research, often extending the state-of-the-art. A unique aspect of the MITRE environment is the opportunity to work in a variety of different areas. Our data mining group is appropriately situated in the same organization as both the database research group and the modeling and simulation department which contains further AI expertise. You will not lack from motivated, knowledgeable people to talk with and tap as resources.
