You know that extracting information from data is no longer just a
competitive advantage; it has become a strategic imperative. You're
convinced that your organization must implement a knowledge-discovery
process. You know you need strategic direction and buy-in from
management to succeed. You're eager to begin but unsure about whom to
involve and where to start. Wharton's Data Mining: Leveraging Knowledge
for Profitability program can help.

Everyone is talking about data mining but very few organizations are
doing it well. One recent study, for example, found that only about a
third of companies use data mining resources strategically. This program
takes a realistic view of the strengths and limitations of data mining
and the importance of a strategic focus.

Faculty will take participants through the steps in the knowledge
discovery process, examining issues related to collecting the right data
for the problem and distinguishing among the types of models best used
for specific problems. The program will also outline the differences
among data mining tools and techniques. Discussions during the program
are grounded in real-life cases, case presentations by participants, and
the perspectives of invited industry guests.

Key Takeaways:
- An understanding of the strategic business applications for data
   mining
- A framework for assessing the costs and benefits of implementing a
   knowledge discovery process
- An understanding of the partnership needed for profitable
   implementation
- A process for planning and initiating a data mining effort in your
   organization
- A realistic view of what data mining can and can not do
- An overview of the latest data mining technology
- An ability to work with data mining professionals to derive knowledge
   from data

Selected Session Topics include
- The knowledge discovery process
- Strengths and limitations of data mining
- Implementing data mining solutions
- Improving bottom-line profitability with data mining

This program is intended for senior and middle managers with
