Subject: Database Engineering at GTE Information Systems

This position will be instrumental in establishing a Database
Engineering practice that will support GTE Information Systems',
Public Safety and Law Enforcement Customers. The individual will
interface directly with customers to understand their enterprise needs
and propose solutions through product/offering concepts, white papers,
briefings and proposals.

Job Responsibilities:
Candidate will accurately develop, troubleshoot, maintain and size
network database systems.  These integrated solutions will meet the
customer's needs including improved performance and other
enhancements.

Education/Equivalent Training Required
BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Information Science related
technical field or equivalent technical experience. Course work in
database design or formal training on Codd rules of normalization.
Experience associated with large, focused database project is a firm
requirement.

Experience
8 years total hands on experience with two RDBMS back-end systems as
either a coder or DBA.  Of the 8 years, 1 year minimum coding SQL
statements (i.e. mass-updates, report writing). Participation or
leadership in a cross-platform and like-platform data migration
project. Technical expertise required in an MS SQL, Windows NT, UNIX
and TCP/IP environment. The individual should have extensive
troubleshooting and analysis experience to determine problems and
identify improvements that will enhance the performance of systems,
hardware and software components and the overall performance of the
system.

Unique/Additional Requirements
Additionally, the candidate will possess an excellent understanding of
hardware and software applications in LAN/WAN environments. Candidate
will have the skills necessary to develop and deliver comprehensive
technical presentations and briefings including oral and written
material. Knowledge of Java and Oracle DBA along with network design
or network implementation ability preferred though not
required. Optional professional certification as a CNE or MSCE

Must be able to obtain a favorable Clearance, including residency in
the United States for 3 of the past 5 years.
