Hopefully this is appropriate. If you have any questions or comments, please let us know Regards Eric We were sorry at ANGOSS to see that we have ruffled some feathers at SAS. But we don't think we should have to take cheap shots either -- on or off the record. In the GartnerGroup report SAS's media spokeperson refers to, SAS, ANGOSS and 4 other vendors (among the many data miners we all know are out there) were identified as six notables in the data mining space. Our assessment of the report is that ANGOSS is the leading independent data mining developer in the world, and one of the data mining industry leaders. Hence our news release. In our view, most data miners would not consider the other named five (IBM, Oracle, SGI, SPSS and, of course, SAS) to focus exclusively (or even primarily) on data mining. Every one knows SAS is comfortable seeing itself as Number 1. But we felt our shareholders and others interested in ANGOSS would be interested to know that we are (or now perhaps we "were") on the radar screen of GartnerGroup. These kinds of reports are useful but always subjective. Leadership can be measured in any number of ways. ANGOSS clearly doesn't win in the marketing dollars department. Looked at in terms of numbers of seats deployed, ease of use, scalability, or innovation -- for example -- our ranking might be quite different. So, just to be clear, ANGOSS does not claim exclusive leadership. We don't think any other vendor in this space can either. That's for customers to decide. We simply communicate our basic message: data mining solutions that are easy to use, affordable, and designed for the future, delivered with highly personalized customer service.
