Subject: Clinton, MD: 2 data mining positions at Kajax Engineering
Kajax Engineering, Inc. is looking to add to its data mining efforts
in Clinton, Maryland.

Knowledge/Education Requirements:

Minimum Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science (or other
mathematical discipline with extensive software development
experience). Masters Degree or Ph.D. preferred.

Position: Data Mining Engineer (DME)
Duties and Responsibilities: Data Mining Engineers (DMEs) should be
capable of developing new applications and/or integrating COTS Data
Mining solutions for the detection of potential fraud, abuse, and
other criminal actions, as well as, in support of counterintelligence
data analysis.  Must be able to manipulate and analyze Government data
sets, in support of all stages of fraud, abuse, and criminal
investigations, and in support of counterintelligence data analysis.

Must be able to search available data sets from Government and
commercial sources, select and then obtain data sources that will
improve the yielding of Data Mining tools, analyze all obtained data
sets to detect data quality defects.  Must be able to utilize
available tools to remedy defects and utilize scripting tools to
perform custom data cleansing and transformations.  The DMEs will
perform interactive data analysis using the available tool suite.

Must be able to prepare detailed reports, summary charts and graphs,
as well as begin able to drill down into the data to identify
anomalous features that may be indicative of fraudulent, abusive, or
criminal activities.  Must be able to identify Data Mining algorithms,
specify data sets, and review Data Mining results for criminal
indicators.  Engineers must be able to work in a team environment with
other engineers, analysts and users with AFOSI Data mining Analysts,
investigators, and other end-users to establish and document
requirements for new Data Mining capabilities.

Minimum/General Experience: The DMEs will have five years relevant
experience.  Relevant experience will include the development of
custom applications, particularly those that employ advanced data
structures and algorithms.  The DMEs will have a track record of
successfully exploiting large, dirty, real-world data sets,
particularly for fraud, criminal and counterintelligence applications.
Each DME will have development or model-building expertise in two or
more Data Mining techniques (e.g. Neural Nets, Rule Discovery,
Decision Trees).  Must have experience using or building data
cleansing tools and appreciation of data quality issues and have
knowledge of C or C++ in the UNIX environment, Perl, and Java.  Also
experience developing client applications for MS Windows 95/98,
Windows NT (Visual C++ or J++), SQL, Visual Basic, and Delphi, and
have a working knowledge of Excel or Lotus spreadsheets with formula
and macro development, as well as database development knowledge
utilizing Access.  Must be familiar with Perl or Awk scripting or
other comparable data manipulating, scripting language, as well as
knowledge in one or more OLAP analysis tools, such as Business Objects
Brio.  Should be familiar with RDBMS application development for
Sybase/Oracle/Informix and have experience utilizing one or more COTS
Data Mining tools (e.g.  Clementine, WizWhy, and SGI Mineset) and have
knowledge of one or more Data Cleansing tools (e.g. Tillium, SSA), as
well as experience with desktop publishing software using Microsoft
Office software, including PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and Access
using Windows 95/98/NT, but that will migrate to Windows 98/NT.
