The Text Mining group is part of the KRDL Knowledge Lab's strategic thrust
in Business Intelligence. The group includes reseachers who bring in
many years of R&D experience in the areas of machine translation, natural
language processing, computational learning and visualization.

We focus on three research areas.

     1. Asian languages: in particular Chinese and Malay, besides English.
While most text mining tools focus on processing English documents
only, mining from documents in Asian languages allows access to
previously untapped information and offers a new host of
        opportunities.
     2. Fast and scalable mining algorithms: Natural language processing
techniques are known to be computationally expensive. To handle
very large corpus, we have partial semantic analysis and machine
learning algorithms that are on-line, incremental, and scalable.
     3. Domain Knowledge Integration: Domain knowledge plays a key role
in knowledge discovery but is often overlooked by most current
text mining tools. We build in structure for integrating domain
knowledge in every aspects of text mining.
