The workshop is being held in cooreration with the SIGMOD/PODS 2000 conference (http://www.seas.smu.edu/sigmod2000/index.html). The focus of previous workshops has ranged from novel data mining algorithms to experiences in deploying data mining systems and applications. For this year's workshop, we would like to retain the above two themes, but in addition also solicit papers that that address the following three topics that we believe are important for the data mining field today. 1. Foundations of data mining. 2. Data mining techniques for vertical applications. 3. Novel Data Applications.
