Battelle (www.battelle.org), a leader in the development and
commercialization of technology is seeking several individuals to lead
efforts to create commercially-viable information technology and to
support the launch of business ventures based on that technology.

Critical Job Functions:

Serve as a leader of key initiatives of one of four technology
platforms in Battelle's Core Technology organization driving
technology toward commercialization.  Support Core Technology's
objectives of reducing technical risk and demonstrating commercial
visibility.  Develop, lead, and actively participate in Information
Technology (IT) Platform R&D initiatives.  Form initiative teams
comprising of both Platform and matrixed staff accessed from other
organizations.  Set clear milestones for delivery of Intellectual
Property (IP), technologies, and solutions to Battelle business
opportunities.  Lead the development of commercially-viable IP and
participate in the launch of IP- based commercial ventures.  Align
Platform R&D with needs of Battelle business ventures.  Support
Battelle's strategic business alliances with platform R&D.  Evaluate
IP for application to government contract research.  Evaluate
government contract research and external IP for development by the
Platform.

Requirements:

Graduate degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Applied
Mathematics, Software Engineering, Statistics, Cognitive Science, or
Informatics.  MBA strongly preferred.  Expertise in one or more of the
following areas: Information Analysis; Information Mining;
Integration, & Visualization; Health, Medical, Bio, or Chem
Informatics; eCommerce Applications; or Network or Information
Security.  A minimum of 10 years experience managing complex technical
programs and leading multi- disciplined teams in a matrixed
environment.  Experience working in a commercial environment such as a
start-up business, developing business cases to lead to start-ups, and
interacting with venture capitalists.  Experience creating,
identifying, capturing, and protecting IP.  Experience working across
organizations bringing disparate groups together to accomplish
objectives.  Ability to build strong teams.  Strong oral, written, and
interpersonal communication skills.

This position may be located in Columbus, OH or Richland, WA.
