Expedia.com seeks an analyst with prowess in business requirement
analysis, exploratory data analysis, text or web mining, data
transformation, model building, and deployment. The analyst should be
self-motivated, eager to work with the business community, and
specifically able to provide business-level descriptions of the mined
results. The successful candidate will have strong project management
skills, attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written
communication skills. Experience with a variety of data mining tool
suites such as SPSS and Clementine, SAS and SAS Enterprise Miner,
Mathsoft's S-Plus, or SPSS Neural Connections is strongly
preferred. The desire to experiment with new data mining algorithms
and techniques to discover patterns in large volumes of data is
essential.  Knowledge of models for customer scoring, customer
attrition, customer lifetime value, fraud analysis, etc., are strong
pluses. Experience with SQL Server and data modeling is a strong
benefit. Focus on satisfaction of both external and internal
customers, ability to work as part of a dynamic and highly visible
team, and experience working with business professionals and systems
to produce actionable results are required. An undergraduate degree in
a strongly quantitative field and minimum of 2 years' experience
deploying solutions for e-commerce, retail, marketing, finance, or
supply-chain is strongly preferred.
