Works with (1) Financial MIS to ensure consistency between measures of customer and product profitability on the database with techniques used in Fleet's financial management reporting, (2) external data providers to identify data overlays or purchased lists that would profitably enhance our understanding of our customer base and/or aid in targeting customers and prospects for increased revenue, (3) external database technology providers (e.g. Harte Hanks, Exchange applications) to manage the implementation of enhancements to the database or the technology used on the database, (4) business line and operations management to implement changes in data collection processes in order to improve the quality of the customer information available on the database, and (5) business line marketing managers to aid in interpretation and use of the measures, and with other CDMA personnel to implement changes and improvements. May be responsible for maintaining the CDMA data dictionary and/or documentatin of database content and software capabilities. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. 60% Plan and oversee the execution of improvements in the measures of customer and product profitability maintained on the database. Gather the information necessary to specify changes to the algorithm and work with the appropriate database programmers to implement the changes. Stay abreast of developments in Financial MIS which should be incorporated in the database. AND/OR Design and implement programs to continually monitor and test the quality of the information in the database. Coordinate the implementation of enhancements to the database or the technology used on the database. AND/OR Identify data overlays or purchased lists that would profitable enhance our understanding of our customer base and/or aid in targeting customers and prospects for increased revenue. Implement new overlays as needed and test the data for coverage and quality. AND/OR Coordinate efforts to develop segmentation models to support business line customer profitability management and target marketing programs. Work with business line managers, Corporate Marketing, CDMA Analytics staff, and CDMA Target Marketing staff to understand the needs, create a project to build the model, and implement the new information on the database. AND/OR Identify, evaluate, and implement changes in data collection processes in order to improve the quality of the customer information available on the database, working with business line and operations staff as appropriate. 2. 20% Document the information available in the database (and software capabilities for accessing that information) in forms appropriate for different audiences and make this documentation available. Communicate improvements as they are planned and as they occur. Prepare and make presentations as appropriate. 3. 10% Work with business line and CDMA analysts to help them understand the nature of the measures and the applicability of those measures to a particular problem at hand. Support analyses using these measures as appropriate, working with other CDMA staff as necessary. 4. 10% Perform quality control on the database after each load to ensure that the information is accurate and complete. SKILLS: 1. Knowledge of customer, product, and organizational profitability methodologies in financial services and their implementation. Strong financial management skills, with a preference for experience in P&L reporting. 2. Knowledge of data quality and data administration techniques; ability to design data quality improvement processes and manage staff in the implementation of those processes, including re-engineering data collection processes. 3. Knowledge of consumer and small business information sources and how to combine them to improve the power of database marketing and behavioral analysis. Knowledge of external list sources and their efficiency/effectiveness. 4. Knowledge of segmentation modeling methodologies and techniques. Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and the use of segmentation in direct marketing. 5. Self-starter; ability to work with minimal supervision. 6. Knowledge of marketing principles; marketing analyst or product management experience would be most desirable. 7. Proven aptitude for problem-solving. 8. Strong interpersonal skills; and strong communications skills, particularly with respect to written documentation and presentation. 9. Familiarity with DSS tools, particularly SAS and Cognos.
