Works on projects on either an ad hoc basis (assigned as requests come in) or as part of a two- or four- person team dedicated to a business line's marketing promotion requirements. Takes on complex projects requiring unusual analytical creativity and/or new ways of looking at the data. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. 25% Provides ad hoc decision support programming support to business lines, using the software and database capabilities of Fleet's customer database environment, as well as desktop software. Typically tackles complex problems requiring extensive data manipulation. 2. 40% Designs, creates, and maintains parameterized reports, using tools such as Cognos Powerplay or Pilot Lightship, that can be used by business line analysts to generate custom reports on demand. Works with business uses to understand their needs and develops prototypes. Enhances the reports over time as usage resluts in more options desired. 3. 25% Provides programming support for various aspects of the marketing promotion process: exploratory data analysis (to determine targets), list generation (including merges and suppressions), and post-promotion response analysis. Generates customized reports, tapes, etc. as needed. Ensures quality and accuracy in all aspects of the work. 4. 10% Researches and resolves database and report content problems to the satisfaction of the client and CDMA. SKILLS: 1. Experience using management decision support software, and with ad hoc query and reporting. Expertise with Cognos Powerplay/Impromptu, SAS, or Pilot would be particularly valuable. 2. A self-starter, capable of working with minimal oversight to solve a problem or meet a need. Demonstrated ability to translate business managers' need for information into usable, useful reports. 3. Good interpersonal skills; a team player. 4. A well-developed aptitude for quantitative analysis -- and enjoyment of the challenge of solving problems that require creative analysis of data. 5. An aptitude for learning technical tools as a means of solving technical problems. Demonstrated ability to learn and exploit new capabilities quickly.
