Imagine just typing a few biographical facts about yourself into a music search engine and, within seconds, listening to songs you've never heard before...that perfectly fit your musical tastes. While it may sound fantastic, state-of-the-art Data Mining and Collaborative Filtering makes this process a reality. As a Senior Data Mining/Collaborative Filtering Engineer at this company, you will help with the design, implementation and analysis of large, multivariate data in an internet environment. (For those who love problem-solving with a vast amount of human perceptual data, this is a dream job.) You should possess a strong foundation in statistical data modeling with experience in user modeling, click stream analysis, and collaborative filtering. (NOTE: Data Mining engineers and Statisticians w/o collaborative filtering may also apply.) Experience in analyzing and manipulating large data sets within a mathematical programming environment such as MATLAB or S-plus and/or familiarity with commercial data mining tools is required. Experience with signal processing is also an asset but not essential. Additional desirables: experience with databases, machine learning, and programming experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem solving and communication skills. Will also have at least a master's degree in statistics, engineering, computer science or a related discipline involving quantitative work with large data sets.
