Won Kim, SIGKDD Chairs, informed us that
ACM SIG Governing Board and Executive Council
made SIGKDD a permanent regular ACM SIG on Oct 14.

The consensus of the ACM folks at the meeting was
"SIGKDD seems to have started out as a medium-size
SIG and is rapidly becoming a large SIG. It is most
impressive."

Also, the details were finally worked out to provide to SIGKDD members
the SIGMOD-created annual DiSC CD ROM set containing the KDD
conference proceedings and certain database conference proceedings,
starting with volume 2 of DiSC (which came out early 2000) and for
each year the members remain members.

Finally, SIGKDD elections will be held in Spring of 2001 -- stay tuned!
