CFPFrom: Ng Wee Keong (Asst Prof) AWKNG@ntu.edu.sgDate: Tue, 5 Dec 2000 08:29:28 +0800 Subject: Workshop on Data Mining and e-Business, April 16-18, Hong Kong Call for Papers International Workshop on Data Mining and Electronic Business: Practice and Experience (DaMeB2001) (http://www.ntu.edu.sg/home/awkng/dameb2001.htm) in conjunction with The Fifth Pacific-Asia Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (PAKDD-01) (http://www.csis.hku.hk/pakdd01/) April 16-18, 2001 Kowloon, Hong Kong Objectives With features like huge amount of data in electronic form that is actionable for discovered knowledge, and measurable for return on investment, electronic business has been touted as the killer domain for data mining. To take advantage of this inherent synergy, it is well recognized that data mining must be integrated into e-business systems. An integrated solution provides users with a uniform environment and seamless access to discovered knowledge. This workshop aims to foster interaction between researchers and practitioners in the data mining and electronic business communities. It seeks to present successful practice and experiences on integrating data mining to any or all aspects of electronic business. Research contributions in data mining/e-business as well as integration of the two with a practical-orientation will also be solicited. There are many forums dedicated to general data mining or electronic business. However, to the best of our knowledge, there has been no single forum dedicated to practice and experience in integrating data mining and eletronic business. It is timely that an opportunity for both researchers and practitioners be created. We believe the workshop will be informative and educational. More research and application activities could be stimulated. We invite papers that are relevant, but not limited to the following areas of interest: * Data mining functionality in e-business * E-business solution based on data mining * Knowledge intensive e-business * Case studies of data mining and e-business * Knowledge management in e-business * Mining e-business data and Web Important Dates Abstract Submission Deadline February 1, 2001 Paper Submission Deadline February 15, 2001 Notification March 1, 2001 Camera-ready Copy Due March 15, 2001 Workshop Date April 16, 2001 Program Chair Wee-Keong Ng Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Jian Pei Simon Fraser University, Canada Program Committee Sourav Bhowmick Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Johannes Gehrke Cornell University, USA Yike Guo Imperial College of Science, UK Masaru Kitsuregawa University of Tokyo, Japan Sanday Madria Kumar University of Missouri-Rolla, USA Vipin Kumar University of Minnesota, USA Ee Peng Lim Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Mukesh Mohania Western Michigan University, USA Jignesh Patel University of Michigan, USA Timothy Shih Tamkang University, Taiwan Kyuseok Shim Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea Zhaohui Tang Microsoft, USA Min Wang IBM T.J.
