Subject: San Francisco, CA, USA: Data Miner/Analyst at Music-related B2B, pre-IPO
This pre-IPO, extremely well-funded San Francisco startup company is the
pioneer of a radically new kind of database/search engine technology that
will change the way we discover, listen to, and buy music forever.

Imagine just typing a few biographical facts about yourself into a music
search engine and, within seconds, listening to songs you've never heard
before...that perfectly fit your musical tastes. While it may sound
fantastic, state-of-the-art Data Mining makes this process a reality. In
the near future, this company's preference-based/taste-based technology will
see uses in a variety of areas in the B2B music industry space. (Record
companies interacting with digital radio companies is one example of such a
B2B relationship.)

The company's business model has been developed by one of the industry's top
management consulting companies and there is strong management at the top
levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:
As a Data Miner/Analyst, you will report to the Chief Scientist and be a key
contributor who will work with large data sets to analyze, refine and QA
those sets within an internet environment.

Requirements:
* Experience manipulating large data sets from multiple and disparate
sources.
* Scripting and programming experience (Perl, Java, SQL). Must have
experience working within a Unix environment.
* Experience with RDBMS technology, preferably Oracle.
* Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
* Bachelors degree in computer science or engineering.

Pluses:
* Advanced math skills
* Strong knowledge of music.

If this position sounds interesting, please email me a copy of your resume
in Word and include a brief cover letter outlining your level of experience
with Perl, Java, SQL, Oracle, and Unix. Its okay if you dont have
absolutely everything. :)

Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Jason Lewis
