I have received a question from a Wall Street Journal about data-swapping and other masking techniques used by the Census Bureau. Is it possible to perform commercially useful re-identification of Census Data (see www.census.gov)I don't know what US Census uses, but I believe there are good randomization techniques that would not allow individual identification. If you know more about US Census data swapping, please reply to editor, and I will summarize in next KDnuggets News, and you may see your answer printed in Wall Street Journal). Gregory |
