BriefsAutonomy uses voice recognition for CRMCRMDaily.com. February 7, 2001 In a bid to hone its competitive edge in the speech recognition industry, UK-based infrastructure software company Autonomy (Nasdaq: AUTN) announced it has sent the first commercial shipment of its iVoice speech recognition software to General Motors and venture capital firm Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. iVoice technology treats voice data the same way Autonomy treats text -- as unstructured information that can be processed to obtain relevant business information. The company said iVoice lets users leverage voice mail, video clips, streaming media and customer service calls to extract knowledge for its CRM, research and other business areas. Autonomy said the first iVoice implementation was deployed in conjunction with its Portal-in-a-Box and Advanced Knowledge products, which aggregate, categorize, hyperlink, personalize and deliver nonspeech information from the Internet, intranet and office documents.
