Our group is doing the research paper on Data Mining and its
applications. Could we get some suggestions or guidance from you on how to get more info. on the prediction of the future of data mining for
the next five years?

I chaired a panel at KDD-99 which looked at the past 10 year of KDD research and made some predictions for the future -- here are my viewgraphs and those of Rakesh Agrawal.

I know that Gartner and Forrester have reports with future market projections for data mining, but generally those are available only to clients. If any readers know about publicly available future predictions about data mining, please email them to editor and I will summarize in the next issue Q&A section.
