Fourth Workshop on Mining Scientific Datasets
http://www.ahpcrc.umn.edu/conferences/fourth/index.html
August 26, 2001
Hyatt Regency, San Francisco
To be held in conjunction with the
KDD 2001
Seventh ACM SIGKDD International Conference
on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining
http://www.acm.org/sigs/sigkdd/kdd2001/
The goal of this workshop is to bring together data miners analyzing
science data and scientists from diverse fields to:
* share their experiences with other scientists working with similar data
* learn how techniques developed in other areas can be applied to their data
* better understand some of the newer techniques being developed in the KDD
community
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to
* feature extraction from image and mesh data
* data fusion techniques for multi-spectral, multi-resolution data
* data mining system architecture issues
* application of data mining techniques
* mining noisy data
* practical experiences, success stories, and lessons learned
* dimension reduction techniques
* application of statistical techniques
All papers should be in the context of data from science and engineering
applications.
