June 4-8, 2001 at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA Offered through the Center for Automated Learning and Discovery in the School of Computer Science. Our week long course on Data Mining and Machine Learning begins with a day-long comprehensive introduction to the fundamental ideas and algorithms in data mining and machine learning. We will then cover a variety of topics about the state-of-the-art, ranging from handling massive datasets to automatic causal discovery to building and mining multimedia databases to data privacy to mining the world wide web. We will also feature hands-on demonstrations of commercial data mining software from IBM, SAS, SPSS and SGI. Time is set aside each day for "one-on-one" meetings with CALD faculty, and we devote a session to a panel discussion of "future trends" in data mining. For detailed information and registration form, please see our website: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~cald/summerschool/index.html Registration is due 5/21/01. |
