SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Consultant in Data Mining Technologies Department to carry out data mining consulting to a wide range of clients. Must be able to function as an independent consultant for: assessing a problem; formulating an appropriate data analytic solution; verifying with the client that the solution is appropriate; being able to describe to both non technical clients and other technical colleagues the advantages and disadvantages of a particular approach; carrying out the analysis and reporting the conclusions, interpretations and implications of solution(s). Must have the ability to bridge/liase across several disciplines, ability to function in a team environment, to be a seeker and driver of change, to be responsible and dependable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering with a Machine Learning or Pattern Recognition emphasis, or related areas. Preferably two years plus experience in data analysis. Experience in data mining, ability to analyze data with a wide variety of methods. Familiarity with complex data mining algorithms. Experience with computationally intensive analysis methods and data mining tools familiarity. An understanding of the stochastic issues involved in data analysis, interpretation and decision making. Experience or training in use of large databases, data sets and corresponding methods of analysis. Experience in, and indication of success as a data analytic consultant with various business areas. This would include understanding a business problem, formulating analytical solutions and communicating the solution to the business area. Proven ability to interact with a team and to co-ordinate various business needs to deliver a solution. Demonstrated ability to participate on interdisciplinary team as a co-operative, productive and contributing team member.
