Subject: Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Data Mining or Invasion of Privacy?

Atlanta Journal Constitution, Mar 24, 2002, writes poll on Data Mining or Invasion of Privacy.

Nearly two of every three metro Atlantans find the buying and selling of personal information an invasion of privacy, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Metro Poll. The survey of 2,400 metro Atlanta adults was conducted between Jan. 14 and Feb. 4.

Forty-three percent feel the same way about stores that track their purchases.

Older people found consumer profiling more invasive than younger generations.

However, only 16 percent felt their privacy was invaded by Web sites that require registration.
