An updated version of random forests is available free (under a GNU license) at www.stat.berkeley.edu/users/breiman. Random Forests (developed by Leo Breiman) is arguably the most accurate genearal purpose classification method available today and has facilities for measuring variable importance and doing clustering for data with a large number of variables An R interface is available at CRAN.
