EDUCATION, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science (or other mathematical discipline with extensive software development experience).
  • Masters Degree or Ph.D. preferred. Experience a substitute for advanced degree.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This individual contributor position will perform critical tasks in the development and design of custom applications. Specifically, the ideal candidate will have experience working with and designing advanced data structures and algorithms. Experience with Radial Basis Functions, predictive modeling, development of customized rule induction algorithms and matrix transformations are a significant plus.
  • This candidate should have a track record of successfully exploiting large, dirty, real-world data sets
  • The successful candidate will manipulate and analyze Government data sets in support of all stages of fraud, abuse, and criminal investigations and in support of counterintelligence data analysis
  • This candidate will be responsible for searching available data sets from Government and commercial entities and selecting and obtaining data sources that will improve the yielding of Data Mining tools
  • Further responsibilities will be to analyze all obtained data sets to detect data quality defects, utilize available tools to minimize such defects, when necessary use scripting tools to perform custom data cleansing and transformations and perform interactive data analysis using the available tool suite including preparation of summary charts and graphs
  • The successful candidate will have development experience or model-based expertise with two or more Data Mining techniques such as Neural Nets, Rule Discovery or Decision Trees
  • Also required is experience using or building data cleansing tools and appreciation of data quality issues
  • Knowledge of C/C++ in UNIX, Perl and Java and experience developing client applications for MS Windows 95/98, Windows NT with Visual C++ or J++, SQL, VB and Delphi.
  • Working knowledge of Excel or Lotus spreadsheets with formula and macro development is required
  • Database development utilizing Access, skills in Perl or Awk scripting or other comparable data manipulating scripting languages, knowledge of one or more OLAP analysis tools such as business objects Brio, RDBMS application development for Sybase/Oracle/Informix and experience using one or more COTS Data Mining tools such as Clemintine, WizWhy and SGI Mineset is required
  • Experience with Data cleansing tools such as Tillim and SSA and experience with desktop publishing software using MS Office software including Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher and access using Windows 95/98/NT, but that will migrate to Windows 98/NT
  • This individual contributor position will perform as a key member working in a Top Secret environment working with Top Secret Data developing a Top Secret application for homeland security.
