CFP: 2nd call for Survey/Review Papers, Microarray Bioinformatics

The Third Critical Assessment of Microarray Data Analysis (CAMDA'02) Durham, NC, USA, Nov 14-15, 2002 Submission deadline: Jan 15, 2003

We are inviting survey/review papers of the current state of the art in microarray data analysis. These reviews are not limited to CAMDA papers and should provide a comprehensive review of the literature so far. The focus of the reviews should be data analysis, not technology developments of microarrays per se. Selected reviews and tutorials will be published in the conference proceedings book "Methods of Microarray Data Analysis III", which will be published by Kluwer in 2003.

Topics of Interest

Papers are solicited on, but are not limited to, either of the following topics:

cDNA array image analysis
   spot finding
   background determination
   global/ local effects
Affymetrix raw data analysis
   .DAT image analysis
   grid alignment and image registration
   .CEL file
   PM only or not
Background subtraction or not
Data transformation
   VSN, log, other families
Normalization methods and assumptions behind
Gene expression indexing
   Li-Wong model and other models
Statistical inference
  Bayesian methods
   Frequentist approaches
Evaluation metrics
   How to evaluation different methods
Quality control and quality analysis
Saturation handling
Outlier detection
Random and fixed effect models
Error-models
Experimental design
   Dye flip
   Reference sample design
   Loop design

Survey papers are expected to be critical and in-depth. Please consider the mixed audience of biologists, statisticians, and computer scientists. More information can be found at http://camda.duke.edu

All papers will be peer-reviewed. Due to the page limits of the book, no last-minute submission will be accepted. Submitters are encouraged to communicate with the editor as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Simon Lin, M.D. Program Chair, CAMDA 02 Co-editor, Methods of Microarray Data Analysis III
