The Statistician, Global Metrics will report to a Manager in Global Metrics, and be dedicated to conceive, design and code statistical models that improve the company's ability to analyze and predict user behavior. Successful execution of this role will require that the Statistician be an expert in database record manipulation (mainly SAS/SQL) and statistical modeling techniques using SAS.

Summary of responsibilities:

1. Use statistical techniques to conceive, design and code statistical models that answer critical business questions about user behavior on the eBay website, and thus improve the company's ability to predict user behavior. In this role, the Statistician will be required to be expert in building statistically valid models.
2. Generate reporting on performance of models. The Statistician will be expected to summarize key findings in both oral and written format. This requires the Statistician to have excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex quantitative information into presentations that are easily understood by general management. The Statistician will have significant opportunities to interpret, analyze, and present key findings to key internal customers, both within Finance and across the Business.
3. Manage the day-to-day aspects of systems (SAS, data sources, workflow systems, etc.) to ensure that the modeling and production infrastructure is optimized. In this role, the Statistician will work closely with IT and other data/systems providers (internal and external) to enhance systems, trouble-shoot data issues, etc.
