SPSS 11.0 for Mac OS X

Leading statistical analysis program now available for MacR OS X SPSSR 11.0 offers linear mixed models and enhanced data management to Macintosh users

Chicago, Dec. 17, 2002 - SPSS Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSS), a worldwide provider of predictive analytics, announced today that SPSSR 11.0, the latest version of the data analysis software used by analysts, statisticians and researchers worldwide, is now available for MacR OS X. The new version of SPSS 11.0 for Mac OS X makes full use of the new Aqua user interface from AppleR and the UNIX foundation upon which the Mac OS X was built - delivering enhanced stability and performance. SPSS 11.0 also features new models and enhanced data management.

"The inherent efficiency of SPSS for Macintosh has allowed me to focus less on crunching the data, and devote more time to posing harder questions," said Dr. David M. Fresco, Department of Psychology, Kent State University. "The flexibility of SPSS in handling multiple data formats, regardless of whether they're text, Excel, Access, etc., is extremely beneficial. Since the datasets are so compact, I can share results with colleagues over the Internet and collaborate in real-time."

SPSS 11.0 is the first version of SPSS to offer linear mixed models, which ensure accurate predictive models when working with nested data. For example, with the flexibility of this procedure, analysts can formulate a wide variety of models and work with repeated measure designs, such as incomplete repeated measurements in which the name of variables differs across subjects. The mixed models procedure can be used to more accurately model student performance within classrooms, consumer satisfaction within families and in a variety of other research applications.
