Subject: Poll Results: Banking/Finance is the most frequent industry group

The previous KDnuggets Poll asked:
What is the main industry of your organization / business ?

Based on 157 respondents, the industry groups (sorted by descending percentage) are:

  • 18.5%, Banking/Finance
  • 18%, Academic/Education
  • 15%, Software
  • 12%, Consulting
  • 8%, Telecom
  • 6%, Manufacturing
  • 4%, Insurance
  • 4%, Medical/Pharma
If we combine Academic, Software, and Consulting groups as "cross-industry" data miners, and the rest as "industry-specific", we can observe that among poll respondents 55% belong to the industry-specific group.
