Subject: Scanning the web for hot topics automatically

I noticed Neil Suffield's posting on "Scanning the web for hot topics automatically." I thought you would be interested in background information on SPSS Inc.'s LexiQuest Text Mining Suite, which is used for the discovery and management of knowledge in unstructured text.

The LexiQuest tools are based on linguistics and therefore can "understand" the user's questions and provide accurate information in response. Further, the LexiQuest products are "white-box" tools, meaning that domain and even enterprise-specific dictionaries can be imported or developed. The LexiQuest line of products includes LexiQuest Mine, a text mining tool that is capable of processing 250,000 pages of text per hour and displaying the results as concept maps; and LexiQuest Categorize, which automates the tedious process of organizing documents into logical categories.
