UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH, UK

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

RESEARCH STUDENTSHIPS
Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining

Applications are invited for two full-time, three-year funded Ph.D.
studentships starting on 1 October 2004.

Two studentships are available in areas that include Knowledge
Discovery and Data Mining.

Applicants should have obtained, by the start of study, a first class
or upper second class degree, or equivalent, and preferably a
Masters, in Computing or a related discipline.

The studentship covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate for the PhD
programme (currently 3,010) and includes an annual maintenance
award, which is 10,500 in the first year, rising annually. There
may also be limited funds for non-EU candidates to cover the
difference between the UK/EU and non-EU tuition fees.

I am particularly interested in hearing from applicants who wish to
undertake research in Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining.
Information about current and recent research in this field is
available on the web at
http://www.tech.port.ac.uk/research/airg/datamine.htm. Informal
enquiries about this can be sent to me, Professor Max Bramer at
Max.Bramer@port.ac.uk.

General information about the department and its research is at
http://www.port.ac.uk/departments/academic/csse/. Further
information and an online application form are available on the web
at http://www.tech.port.ac.uk/~bramerm/csse-rs2004. Applications
by post or email will not be accepted. The deadline for applications
is Monday June 28th. Interviews will be held in Portsmouth on
