Jobs

From: Matt Cohler
Date: 1 Jul 2004
Subject: Mountain View, CA: Reporting Engineer at LinkedIn

July 2004 starting date

LinkedIn is looking for a Reporting Engineer to help us gather knowledge about our user base. The Reporting Engineer will be instrumental in architecting and building our analytics platform (primarily a database framework for activity reports based off of our live database schema), and will play a leading role in make-vs-buy decisions for this platform. In addition to playing an instrumental role in architecting and building the analytics platform, the Reporting Engineer will perform ad hoc queries as needed, and develop a strong sense of the business to create reports that will help others gain a better understanding of LinkedIn's latest trends.

A strong candidate should have excellent coding skills, especially in SQL. Deep familiarity with existing data warehouse tools, processes, and development is strongly preferred. A background in the quantitative aspects of business is a major plus. Scripting skills (perl, python, etc.), PL/SQL, Oracle, Java, and some knowledge of statistics are all good to have.

About LinkedIn

Founded in May 2003, LinkedIn has quickly become the leading provider of private and effective online networking tools used by over 650,000 quality professionals across the globe. LinkedIn is located in Mountain View, CA. Our CEO was most recently EVP at PayPal. We are funded by Sequoia Capital, the VCs behind Google, Yahoo!, Apple, PayPal, and Cisco, and by leading Silicon Valley angel investors. The team is still small enough to offer great opportunity and great upside for new employees.
