The Analytic Services team is an entrepreneurial, project-oriented team within Customer Research & Strategies, with core competencies in Customer and Claim focused Data Warehousing initiatives, Data Mining/Predictive Modeling, and Database Marketing. The team is part of a high-profile internal consulting organization, providing strategic and tactical competencies to drive the Company's Marketing, Planning, and Operational Efficiency initiatives. This is a highly visible team often interacting with senior leaders and executives and delivering on corporate strategy.

As a Senior Modeling Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading high-impact analytical and predictive modeling projects from ideation, planning, and development, to execution and eventual deployment. You will report to the Director of Analytic Services and will work closely with members of the Data Warehousing, Data Mining, and Database Marketing functions. Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in initiatives such as - Risk Scoring and Underwriting Models, Attrition/Retention Models, Customer Lifetime Value Models, Fraud Detection Models, Loss Propensity Models, Audit Selection Models, Prospecting/Acquisition Models, etc.
  • Provide thought and technical leadership to define methodology for data sourcing, data processing/transformation, target variable definition/identification, and modeling technique choices for each initiative.
  • Set up data integration and aggregation for large volumes of data from disparate systems and sources into analytic data sets using SAS and other Query tools.
  • Combine statistical and modeling expertise with business knowledge gathered from subject matter experts to derive meaningful relationships and insights, and build predictive models of significant business value.
  • Organize and present findings in a way that is understandable and useful to end-users at all levels in the company.
  • Devise efficient solutions to effectively deploy models into the Business operations.
  • Consult with the Data Warehousing and Database Marketing teams at strategic and tactical levels.
  • Develop, foster, and enhance relationships with internal Business customers.
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Computer Science (with Machine Learning/AI), Applied Statistics or a related quantitative field is required. Graduate degree is strongly preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of analytical and modeling techniques such as regression analysis, decision trees, neural networks, clustering techniques, survival analysis, etc.
  • Mastery of statistical/data mining software, particularly SAS (advanced programming and macro language a plus). E-Miner experience is very desirable.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in analytics/predictive modeling/data mining (or at least 2 years work experience coupled with a graduate degree).
  • Demonstrated academic and practical experience in analytical projects involving all aspects of the process, from data extraction, to cleaning, pre-processing, modeling, and reporting.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Insurance marketing, underwriting, actuarial, or claims environment strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of database management systems and SQL is a must. Experience with Data Warehousing initiatives is a big plus.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, action-oriented and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability/potential.
