Director of Research and Development, Data Mining and Modeling

Accent is currently seeking a leader to develop and implement innovative approaches in the ongoing development of our data mining services.

The key to Accent's identification and data mining process is in our approach, which we call Trilogy(SM). Trilogy is a system that combines automated edits, our unique Search Engine Application and manual validation to identify potential overpayments through system logic based upon HCFA, CPT4 and ICD9 coding rules, as well as edits customizable to your claim payment rules, processes, and systems.

The Director of Research and Development leads a team that is responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance�and create models that will detect overpaid medical claims through analysis and transformation of data into business results. This person will also provide strategic recommendations for improving systems and processes in our data mining practice. Additionally, this person serves as a member of the company�s Senior Management Team and participates in the overall leadership of the company.

The Research and Development team also educates our recovery operations on the appropriate use of data elements including the establishment and maintenance of these elements.

A qualified applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Masters degree in statistics, mathematics or related field required.
  • 5 years experience developing, implementing and validating predictive models.
  • 5 years experience in segmentation techniques, clustering and classification algorithms, predictive modeling technologies and statistical software packages.
  • 5 years previous supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of data quality concepts, data management principles and data infrastructure.
  • Ability to translate data modeling/data mining into business results.
  • Understanding of database architecture for data mining.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience in health insurance industry or healthcare is a plus.
